North Alabama Medical Center Names 2024 Mercy Award Winner
May 6, 2024
FLORENCE, Alabama (May 6, 2024) – North Alabama Medical Center has recognized Bethany Tyree as the facility’s 2024 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of Lifepoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program that honors the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a Lifepoint employee can receive.
“At North Alabama Medical Center, we are committed to advancing Lifepoint’s mission of making communities healthier, and our devoted team members are critical to this work – especially Bethany Tyree,” said Russell Pigg, Market President and CEO of NAMC. “We are so proud to recognize her positive contributions to improving the overall health of our patients, supporting their families, and serving our community. Bethany always goes the extra mile to meet any need that may arise and is a true champion of our caring culture at NAMC.”
Tyree, a discharge planner in case management department, has been at NAMC for seven years. Following a stint in ER registration, she moved over to case management to better align with her pursuit of a degree in social work at the University of North Alabama.
“She really began to blossom after becoming a discharge planner,” said NAMC Director of Case Management Susan Bryant. “Early in her career, Bethany was very quiet and shy. Within weeks, her demeanor and body language began to reflect how happy she was to share her knowledge and to be able to help her patients.”
Each facility winner, including NAMC, will be considered for Lifepoint’s 2024 companywide Mercy Award. The companywide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in August.
