A $32 million investment in technology at North Alabama Medical Center is equipping improvements across the entire hospital, including the Joint Commission approved Primary Stroke Center, a Stroke Center of Excellence also given a Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association.
North Alabama Medical Center offers 24/7 neurosurgery availability to the region, expanding existing service lines into a completely comprehensive stroke care center. This effort will centralize stroke care in the region, keeping patients from travelling to Huntsville or Nashville to receive care in an emergency situation.
NAMC staff will utilize recognized clinical standards of care to improve each patient’s chances for recovery during a given stroke event. This, combined with improved technology, private family consult rooms, and the region’s most advanced radiology equipment will provide advanced care and aim to improve regional stroke outcomes.
In July, NAMC recruited more than a dozen new physicians who specialize in a variety of areas, including neurosurgery. These physicians will begin practicing in the Shoals in September.
